Do I need to be an experienced singer to join The Choir?

Not necessarily. You don’t need formal vocal training or years of choir experience, but you should be able to sing in tune and have a genuine love of singing.

No. There’s no formal audition to join The Choir.Instead, we have a simple registration process that helps us get to know you and make sure The Choir is the right fit for you, and that we’re the right fit for you too.

How does the registration process work?

Our registration process is designed to make sure you understand what The Choir is about and that it’s the right environment for you.We’ll ask you a few questions about your singing experience and what you’re looking for, so we can make sure your expectations match what we offer.It’s not an audition. We simply want to make sure that everyone who joins is going to enjoy the experience, contribute to the group and get the most from being part of The Choir.

What happens at a rehearsal?

Our rehearsals are about learning great music, developing your voice and having a brilliant time with other singers.You’ll learn original arrangements, work on your vocal technique and performance skills, and gradually bring everything together as a group.We expect our singers to come prepared to learn, participate and push themselves - while still having plenty of fun along the way.

What kind of music does The Choir sing?

We love great songs, big sounds and arrangements that make you want to sing.Our repertoire is varied and modern, with arrangements created specifically for The Choir rather than pulled from a standard catalogue. Our director also writes original songs for us on occasion which makes us really stand out!

Who writes the arrangements?

Every arrangement is written, produced and recorded by Chris, our founder and Musical Director.That means the music is created specifically for our singers and our sound, not mass-produced or taken from a franchise catalogue.

Do I need to sing a solo?

Accepted Answer

You’re joining a choir, so there’s no expectation that everyone has to sing solo. There may be opportunities for solos or featured parts for those who want them, but the focus is on creating a strong sound together as a group.

Will I get to perform?

Yes. Performing is a fundamental part of The Choir experience.We want our singers to develop not only their vocal ability, but also their confidence and performance skills. If you enjoy singing but have always wanted to become a stronger performer, The Choir gives you the opportunity to challenge yourself and grow.

We provide lyrics and sheet music for you to learn from. We also provide professional recordings for you to learn by ear.

How do I know which section to sing in?

During your workshop, you can try out different sections, and Chris will be on hand to guide you.
